A much needed date with my son.

The other day my husband Jake and I were talking about our 4 children. How they are all so different and how each of them require special attention in their own way.

As we were going down the line, we started talking about our youngest son, Lennon. He is 8 years old and third in line. Between sitting at sporting events of his older siblings, and then backing off and staying quiet when the toddler is requiring much of our attention at home, we came to the realization that he is a very overlooked child in this season.

He is easy

He has no trouble with school work. He is the only child that can truly go off in his room and play by himself. He doesn't care what clothes he wears, what shoes he has on, or how grown out his haircut is. Like I said, he is easy.

However, it made us feel instantly bad on how much we take for granted that he is our least needy child right now. So I decided to surprise him with a special Lennon and Mom day date doing things that HE loves.

We had dinner, fun lemonade, went to a movie, and I let him go to his favorite store and pick out something he loved. I even let him pick a couple at the restaurant and we blessed them by paying for their meal.

Our day together fuel me so much and made him feel so special. I think he thanked me about 20 times for taking him out.

So I want to challenge you that if you are a parent especially to multiple kids, don't forget to individually date your children. No matter what age they are. Young or old. I promise it will be beautiful time you both need together to catch up on their life with no distractions.

I am so glad I made time for him and pray it is time he will take for his own children someday.
