Hello Friend! I am so glad you are here!

Helping older generations (like me) look cool!

I have 3 nieces (and my oldest daughter) heading to middle school this year. Several years ago, I went to school for Cosmetology and worked at a salon for 7ish years. So I thought I would surprise the girls with a Back-to-School Spa Day!

And it was so much fun! I did "mom approved" haircuts, facials, and pedicures with them. I loved every minute of it and hope it can become a yearly tradition and memory for both them and me for years to come!

This age is fascinating and I encourage you to take some time (without devices) and sit down and ask them questions, get to know this generation deeper. They are no different then other generations. They just come with different fashion trends, slang, and dreams. And they were more than willing to share it all with me.

Here were some fun facts that I found out from our conversation.

The makeup look. It is the "clean girl look" - Simple, clean with light neutral eye shadows, a little mascara, and some blush. If you have to wear eyeliner, brown is better or the white under the eye is coming in hot.

Clothing style. All about cute comfort. Black leggings and even sweatpants and more cropped sweatshirts.

Some slang words and their meanings that might make you look cool (or get an eye roll) are the following

Mid- Ok or average

Bet- agreement and understanding

Buss'in- Very Good

Gyat- Big booty

Cringe- Awkward, embarrassed, uncomfortable

Drip- Good clothes

Extra- Dramatic, like why are you so extra

Sus- Suspicious

Let him cook- when someone is doing something they are really good at

So feel free to use some of these tips in that next text message or conversation with a young adult. I cant guarantee the reaction but hey at least you will get one!
