I have yet to read my own book!

Yep, you read that correctly.

I wrote a book... and haven’t actually sat down to read it as a reader, in its printed form, straight off the press, until now.

Weird, right? She wrote a book and hasn’t even read it? I know. I haven’t asked many authors if this happens to them as well, but here’s what I’ve realized:

I didn’t avoid reading it because of the amazing reviews, the kind feedback, the messages, emails, and DMs that came flooding in (though all of that left me in shock and beyond blessed). The truth is, this book was deeply personal. It’s my story. My journey. Launching something so vulnerable into the world stirred up all the feelings within me.

You don’t know what to expect when people from your hometown, the town you still live in, start reading the deepest parts of your heart. Friends who know you now and who knew you then... It’s a lot.

And while I like to say I’m a recovering people pleaser, I definitely slip back into it from time to time.

So no, I haven’t been the best at advertising this book. I haven’t boldly owned it like I probably should have. But even so, I am incredibly and humbly proud of it.

So here I am. I’m finally going to read it. Really read it. I’m going to own it. And I’m going to say it out loud:

I am Megan May, and I am an author.

I wrote a book last year and I believe, with my whole heart, that it’s worth reading.

I wrote it for three reasons.

1. To be obedient to what God called me to do.

2. For my husband, my kids, and for many generations to come from our family tree.

3. You

Because I believe there are sentences in this book that were written specifically for you. Not because I wrote them, but because I believe God is going to bold those words for your heart exactly when you need to see them.
