Rest Up!

The last couple weeks have been rather full! Full for me, full for my business, and full for my family.

I always know that after a season of fullness (or what some call a "crazy busy" season) whether it is just a few weeks or a few months, its important to slow yourself back down. To rest, and to balance out anything that has been left to the wayside.

For myself putting on an event took a lot out of me. I poured my heart, time and energy into it and now that it is over (which if your asking it was beyond AMAZING and I am still pinching myself 86 women invested into themselves that day), its time to swing the pendulum back to more of a slower pace.

And no, slow doesn't mean binge watching Netflix all day everyday. It means starting to take care of the things you had to let go a little bit or a lot a bit during that busy season.

For starters, ME- I cant take care of others without taking care of me. I needed time this week to sleep, rest my brain, be alone, and unwind and soak in the results of that busy season.

Next, my house- EEEK it was a mess and if someone would have seen my toilets in the last two weeks, I would have died. I cleaned, rearranged, put out my spring stuff and it feels so good.

Another thing, my kids. I was very open and honest with them the last couple weeks and they heard the sentence "lets table that for after the event" many times. So now we are talking through all the things I made them wait on. I play cards with them and we have gotten back to taking walks in the evenings. So good for all of us.

Most important, my marriage. A dinner date night has been scheduled (by me) to reconnect with my husband. No kids allowed and I cannot wait! - that man gets the worst of me more than anyone so he deserves a date with a happy wife :)

And then my business. I need to get back to consistency, adding fresh and new things to it and looking ahead for future opportunities.

Busy or full seasons will always come, especially if you are with children still at home, or have a demanding job, or making your own dreams come true. But with that said, there is no reason to hustle constantly without a slowdown. Being "Busy" isn't something to brag about, its exhausting and will burn you out in every way. Trust me, I have been there more than a few times.

So take time to rest

Run yourself a bath

Go on that date

Watch a good movie

Have coffee with that friend

Connect on a call with a mentor

Start a new devotional

Have a girls day out

Be still and pray

Move your body and enjoy the sunshine

These are all great and important things that will help reset you and prepare you for the next big and busy thing.

So here is to a week of rest and most importantly being aware of what season you are in and tips on how to handle it.
