Hello Friend! I am so glad you are here!

Two months ago, my youngest son Lennon broke my heart.

Not intentionally. But in the most honest, innocent way only a child can.

We were in the car, just the two of us, when his iPad immediately died, and he became a total wreck. Like, he was so upset about it, he couldn't even carry on simple conversations with me. My heart broke not because of what he did, but because of what my husband and I have been allowing. I knew that day something needed to change.

The truth is, 3ish years ago, my husband Jake and I made a big decision for Christmas: We gave him an iPad.

He’s always been a tech-loving kid, and we knew he’d be thrilled. And we were correct, he was!

We had “rules” in place, like any well-meaning parent. But slowly, we started slipping on the rules, and slowly, over time, the iPad started consuming him. His focus. His attitude. His joy.

We knew it. We saw it. We felt it. But honestly? We still chose the easier route and didn't do anything about it.

Until that car ride.

That moment in the car changed something in me and in us as a family. We decided to finally do the hard thing.

A full iPad detox. Three weeks. No exceptions.

We braced ourselves for pushback.

But what actually happened was unexpected… and beautiful.

This week on The Megan May Podcast, I open up about the full story: The moment Lennon made me see the truth. What happened during the 3-week detox, the good and the hard, and how we’re thinking about tech and parenting now.

If you’ve ever questioned your child’s relationship with screens or your own, this episode is for you. No shame. No finger-pointing. Just honest conversation, and hopefully, encouragement to other parents out there.

We are the first generation to navigate this kind of technology. We can't ask for advice from parents, grandparents, or mentors. They have not been through it. So we do what we can with what we know.

And when we know better, we do better, and we owe it to our kids to make the harder choice.
